Senja / Lyngen Photography Workshop 2025
With Thor & Peter Gordon
Senja and Lyngen locations with some epic Autumnal colour.
The locations look absolutely stunning in yellow, plus the frozen lakes with those towering peaks hold the possibility of reflections in Autumn. Not to mention numerous locations that are inaccessible in winter including the amazing Segla mountain. So much to shoot including dramatic mountains, epic fjords, cute little cottages, single-trees and northern lights. Plus there’s no one around at lots of the locations so it’s a real treat.
Travelling to Norway:
You will want to fly into Oslo and connect through there to Tromso, tour begins and concludes at Tromso airport.
Physical Requirements:
The majority of the workshop is easy with locations close to the car. We consider a 15-minute walk easy/nature isn’t paved. There is one walk of 30 minutes on a trail. This is in the Lyngen area and you can stay closer to the car and shoot here if you prefer not to do the walk. There’s a hike to Segla for sunrise one morning. Sleep-in is optional. The hike is about 2500 meters one way but there is an elevation gain of 600m so this won’t necessarily be for everyone. Just google ‘segla senja‘ and you’ll see why we want to do this shoot.
Where are we staying?
We will be lodging at 3 locations during our stay in Senja. The accommodations are beautiful and conveniently located for our shooting locations.
Highlights:
-
Beautiful fjords of Senja
-
Pristine beaches
-
Amazing cottages
-
The undiscovered Lyngen Alps
-
and many other lesser known locations
-
Stunning fall colurs
In a nutshell.
This workshop is covering some of the best parts of Senja Island in northern Norway which is located at 3 degrees north of the arctic cirlce, where we can experiance some magical arctic winter light.
This time of year we will be focusing on the stunning fall colours along with some epic seascapes and ofcourse some nothern lights.
Our Senja & Lyngen photography workshop begins with a meet up evening of the 22nd Tromso. Accommodation is provided in Tromso on 22nd of Sept. You can fly here via a connecting flight from Oslo.
On the 23rd and 24th the group will be staying in a hotel in the Lyngen Alps. On the 25th, 26th, and 27th you will be staying in Senja.
The final shoot will be sunrise on the 28th. The group will head to Tromso airport / arrival approx 1pm. Accommodation is not provided on the 28th
We do not set out a specific daily location itinerary, as Peter & Thor will bring you to the best locations under the prevailing light conditions. However, you can expect to shoot big mountain views in Lyngen and Senja, stunning fjords, trees and of course we will do our level best to capture the northern lights. We have 6 nights so there’s a great chance to see it and shoot it. Thor and Peter have tonnes of experience and while it’s never guaranteed you have a great chance during your visit.
There will be a webinar to help you edit your images post-workshop. You send your pictures to your instructor and a section will be edited live. The webinar will be recorded and sent back to you so you will have a route map to help you make the most of your images after the workshop.
