The Purpose:
Thor Photography/Sif Travel offers photography tours and workshops, mainly in Iceland, but we also like to share the love of photography as much as possible and will gladly travel when necessary.
The legal stuff:
Thor Photography/Sif Travel has a full permission to function as a tour operator and Travel agency by the Icelandic tourist board. This permit is provided by Icelandic Tourist Board which, in accordance with the Tourism Act, designates a tour operator as a party, whether an individual or a legal entity who, whether on his own initiative or in complying with a customers request, organises, offers and sells to the public for a professional purpose, travel-related services.
Governing Law / Jurisdiction:
Thor Photography/Sif Travel operates in accordance with Icelandic law.
Liability Disclaimer:
By attending any of our expeditions, you acknowledge and accept certain risks. Your application acts as a release of our liability, and you assume all risks, along with your heirs, administrator, executor, successors, and assignees for all family members.
By agreeing to our terms of service, you acknowledge your awareness that travel, regardless of the location or means, carries inherent risks of injury, illness, death, loss, or damage to personal property. These risks may arise from acts of nature, negligence, or the actions of others.
As part of your payment and consideration for participating in any program, workshop, excursion, expedition, or other activities organized by Thor Photography/Sif Travel ehf or their representatives, you voluntarily release Thor Photography ehf / Sif Travel, including their employees, assigns, independent contractors, and all other involved parties, from any damages, liabilities, costs, injuries (both physical and mental), whether known or unknown. By participating, you agree to assume all risks, whether known or unknown. You acknowledge that traveling to remote, foreign, mountainous, wilderness, or wild river areas may involve additional risks, dangers, and inconveniences beyond what you are accustomed to, including but not limited to forces of nature, encounters with wild animals, terrorism, accommodation standards, transportation by airplane, vehicles, trains, boats, roads, walkways, trails, and other means of conveyance, as well as other unknown risks.
You understand that medical services and facilities may not be readily available during all or part of the trip, including medical care, access to physicians, and medication. We hold no liability for medical care, as well as any dietary requirements you may have.
Unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian (with our approval), you must be at least 18 years old to attend our workshops. By submitting your application, you fully comprehend and agree that you release and hold harmless Thor Photography ehf / Sif Travel, its officers, agents, sponsors, associates, sub-contractors, from any and all liability, actions, causes of actions, claims, debts, and demands of any kind that may arise in connection with your participation in any activities arranged by them. This includes, but is not limited to, liability for negligence by the aforementioned individuals.
You also acknowledge that traveling with a group requires compromise to accommodate the diverse desires, travel goals, personalities, and physical abilities of group members. While itineraries are carefully planned, they are not guaranteed schedules of activities, events, or participation, but serve as guidelines and examples. Group participants must be flexible and prepared for changes deemed necessary by the program leader or professional guides. Certain circumstances beyond our control, such as geographic, climatic, physical, or governmental restrictions, may result in further alterations to timing, locations, and activities. Therefore, you agree that no discounts or refunds will be provided for activities curtailed or affected by such circumstances.
You are responsible for selecting activities that are suitable for your physical abilities and interests. It is your personal responsibility to ensure that you are in good health to undertake the chosen activity. By accepting our terms of service and submitting your deposit, you certify that you do not have any known physical or other disabilities that would pose a risk to yourself or other participants. Additionally, you authorize Thor Photography ehf / Sif Travel and/or its trip leader to initiate and provide medical care in the event of a medical emergency. We reserve the right to request a doctor's statement confirming your good health.
You are expected to thoroughly review all pre-trip information, bring all necessary equipment and personal items, and dress appropriately according to the provided standards of dress and hygiene. Furthermore, you are expected to act considerately towards fellow participants, locations, environments, models, and locations. We reserve the right to cancel any activity and accept or reject any person as a member of any activity. The program, workshop, expedition, excursion, or trip leader's judgment will be the ultimate determining factor regarding an individual's ability to participate in or continue to participate in any activity or program.
Third-Party Services Disclaimer:
We want to make you aware that in certain situations, we rely on third-party tour organizers, transportation providers, hotel operators, and food providers to deliver the services associated with our Workshops. All tickets, coupons, reservations, and other arrangements are subject to the terms, conditions, and policies set forth by the respective third-party service providers. Please note that we have no control over the actions of these third parties and cannot be held responsible for unforeseen events that may arise, including but not limited to travel delays, lost luggage, cancellations, overbooking, and other reservation errors. To account for such unforeseen events, we recommend maintaining some flexibility in your schedule, as it may be necessary to extend the duration of the Workshop or make reasonable adjustments to the itinerary. Please understand that refunds will not be granted in the event of unexpected circumstances that require scheduling changes. Additionally, you agree to release us from any liability for injury, death, damage, loss, accidents, delays, or irregularities that may occur in connection with any services provided by third parties.
Travel Documentation:
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the proper travel documents and immunizations. You should check with the respective consulate(s) or visa agencies to determine whether visas are required. Valid passports are required for international travel. Traveling within Schengen requires that passports are valid for at least 3 months after your arrival date. For other travelers it’s 6 months.
For sailing expeditions travel insurance with emergency evacuation coverage is mandatory.
Cancellation and refund policy:
Day Tours

Should Thor Photography/Sif Travel need to cancel the tour, it is fully refundable or we will seriously hunt for a replacement tour, though not to be guaranteed or expected.

Should the customer need to cancel the tour, the deposit will be retained if the notice is more than one month. If the cancellation notice is less than one month, there is no refund.

In case of flood, volcano action, closed roads or storm warning by the Icelandic Met Office, we will discuss this with the customer and may agree upon a mutual cancellation if the situation demands it, or set another date. Because we might need to cancel for the reasons above, we strongly advise our customers to have a good travel insurance.
Northern Lights Tours
The northern lights are a natural phenomenon and we monitor the aurora forecast and base our decision if the tour is going happen or not. We do not go northern light hunting unless we think there is a very good chance of seeing them, if we go and the lights do not appear there is no refund and we will not go another night.
Workshops
Unless otherwise stated in the description of the workshop on our website, the following cancellation policy applies for our workshops:

A deposit is required to reserve your space in the workshop, or you may pay in full.

The remaining balance is due on a certain date stated in the description of the workshop, usually 90 days before the start of the workshop for Icelandic workshops but can be
longer for international workshops. -
If the remaining balance is not paid in full, your space will be forfeited without any refund of the deposit.
Refunds:
If we do not meet the minimum number of participants and need to cancel, you will of course be fully refunded.
All cancellations are subject to a minimum of a $150 service charge.
In addition, if you cancel and your spot is otherwise filled, you will be refunded the full amount you have paid (minus the $150 service charge). However if you cancel and your spot is not filled, the following fee schedule applies:

90 days or more: full refund minus $150 fee (Icelandic workshops, but the same amount of days as stated for balance payment for international workshops)

60 days to 90 days: 50% refund

Less than 60 days: no refund
Refunds will be paid in the same method that the original payment was made.
Refunds will be initiated within 72 hours of the time that the request is approved.
Good to know:

Accommodation and food is not included in the price unless it says so in the description.

Travel insurance is not included in the price, so customers are advised to have personal travel insurance.

Before you start the tour, be sure to have email contact with us.

Your guide´s mobile number is at the bottom of the confirmation email from Thor Photography.

In case of a hotel pickup, please be sure to leave the guide information regarding the hotel you are staying at, as well as the room number.
